Amy Munro-Kounovsky Scholarship

Recipient shall be a junior or senior with a declared major in Corporate Recreation/Wellness and have an upcoming enrollment in a recreation internship.  First preference shall be given to those who demonstrate interest and the potential for success as a personal trainer, including arrangements to complete a "recreation internship" consistent with demonstrated practices for a personal trainer to affirm the chosen career path of a personal trainer.  Financial need shall be considered.


Ann Allen Brekke Scholarship

The recipient shall have declared a degree and major to pursue studies in the teaching of Physical Education. If such a recipient is not available in any given year, then the scholarship could be awarded to a Recreation major. The recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full time student by the University. All class levels are eligible for this award.


ARAMARK Facility Services Scholarship

Recipient shall be considered a full time student, classified as a sophomore or have earned at least 27 semester hours of credit, and must have attended Northwest Missouri State University for at least one semester. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 and have declared a major in one of the following areas: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Computer Management Systems, Marketing, Psychology or Sociology. Students must provide a personal letter to the scholarship committee, and provide two (2) references from non-family individuals. Preference shall be given to those students who are presently employed and have worked one year for Facility Services at Northwest. Financial need may be considered.


Bonnie Magill Scholarship

Awarded to an entering freshman who plans to major in a physical education program within the School of Health Sciences and Wellness.


Brenda Wilson Andrews Memorial Scholarship

Available for students with a major in Psychology or Sociology who have junior or senior standing and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. The recipient will have a career objective related to social/family services and demonstrate financial need.


Burton L Richey Memorial Scholarship

The recipient shall have declared a major in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness and shall be a continuing student enrolled full time. Commitment to leadership and dedication to the profession will be the leading criteria. Financial need will be given consideration.


Dr Frances Shipley Scholarship

The recipient shall be a full-time, continuing student, with at least one year of undergraduate coursework remaining at Northwest, with a declared minor (or major) in the interdisciplinary study of Gerontology, and shall have completed at least 9 hours in Gerontology coursework. If no qualified applicant has chosen this field of study, then the Committee shall consider applications from students with demonstrated intent to work with and the potential for success to assist the aging and older adult population. The recipient shall be chosen based on policies and standards offered for the interdisciplinary study of Gerontology by Northwest Missouri State University, including consideration for academic achievement and financial need.


Dr Mary Rose Gram Scholarship

Recipient shall have completed at least 12 credit hours in his or her major of dietetics. The recipient shall have at least a 3.20 GPA in his or her major and submit two letters of support from faculty members as well as a one to two page essay describing his or her educational and career aspirations in addition to the application.


Dyche Family Scholarship

Recipient shall be classified as a continuing student enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in Physical Education with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.


Earl H Baker Memorial Scholarship for Recreational Studies

Awarded to junior or senior recreation majors with a 3.00 GPA. Two recipients per year, preferable one male and one female.


Eudora Wymore Memorial Psychology Scholarship

Recipients shall be a psychology major and have a GPA of 2.75 and completed a volunteer project with people who have a disability.


Fred Fuhr Memorial Scholarship

Recipient shall be classified as a returning student (sophomore, junior, or senior) and shall have declared a major in physical education. Financial need will be leading criteria.


Gwynetha Girling Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior interested in entering some phase of social work with 3.00 minimum GPA.


James Robert Gregory Scholarship

Recipient shall be classified as a returning student (sophomore, junior, or senior) and shall have declared a major in physical education. Financial need will be leading criteria with academic achievement also taken into consideration.


John Byrd Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to sophomore, junior or senior physical education majors with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA and 3.00 GPA in their major. Recipients shall demonstrate a record of leadership, sportsmanship and academic commitment. Preference for members of the men’s tennis team.


Kathryn S Riddle Scholarship

Woman majoring in physical education or recreation with minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Must have completed 60 hours prior to applying for scholarship, at least 30 of those hours at Northwest.


LaRue B Sherman Scholarship

Recipient shall be a continuing student with junior or senior classification and maintain full-time enrollment. First preference shall be given to a woman with a declared major in physical education, with second preference given to a woman pursuing a declared major in Recreation. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and show financial need.


Lemar-Rischer Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to senior psychology major who exhibits scholarship, leadership and character, and demonstrates financial need.


Mabel Cook Scholarship

Recipients shall be a full-time sophomore or older undergraduate continuing student with a declared Dietetics major and hours completed in the Dietetics major courses.


Marie C Oftelie Scholarship

Recipients shall be women majoring in physical education, maintaining a GPA of at least 2.50. Recipients shall have completed 60 hours prior to applying for this scholarship, and at least 30 of those hours must have been completed at Northwest.


Penny Parman Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior with a declared major in the area of psychology.


Phyllis Combs Leet Scholarship

Awarded to Dietetics majors, continuing students (sophomore or older students) with hours completed in the dietetics major courses, those who display serious intent of finishing their dietetics program. If multiple, qualifying candidates apply, preference can be given to those who resided generally in the geographic area consisting of the 19 counties in Northwest Missouri, with additional preference for those who grew up on a farm or in a small town (under 1500 population).


Rischer Educational Enrichment Grant

Awarded to a junior of senior psychology major who demonstrates active involvement in research or other aspects of professional development with preference for students who will use the funds to support research or professional development activities.


Ryland Milner Scholarship

Awarded to a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student with a major in physical education or recreation. Undergraduates must have a completed a minimum of 27 credit hours, show financial need. Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.


Tunell Scholarship

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, shall be a junior or senior in the year the award is received, shall have declared major in Applied Health Science and shall have a minimum 3.5 GPA within the major.  Completing the Occupational Goals essay is required to be considered for this scholarship.  First preference shall be given to those who demonstrate interest and potential for success in a health care related field.


Wilma Hall 20th Century Club

Recipient shall be pursuing a career in the medical field at Northwest, shall have graduated from a Nodaway County high school, and shall maintain a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA
