	Shaw John Shaw taught physics and astronomy at Northwest Missouri State University for 28 years before retiring in 2016. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and his Ph.D. in physics from Purdue University. He believed strongly in the importance of undergraduate research and engaged a number of students in undergraduate research over his years at Northwest.
