Eligible applicants must be a Northwest sophomore or junior instrumental music major, with the award being used during his/her junior or senior year. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 to qualify, be in the process of completing the fourth trimester of study, and continue as a full-time instrumental music major during his/her junior year. The award is made on the basis of a recommendation from the instrumental music faculty and may be renewed for the senior year, provided the previous recipient reapplies and is selected. The student may be a wind, percussion, or piano major.

For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Renewal requirements: The award is renewable for four years. To qualify for renewal, the student must remain Pell Grant eligible and complete at least 24 Northwest credit hours each academic year. Missouri residents must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative Northwest GPA and non-residents must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative Northwest GPA.

The Ward Rounds Instrumental Music Scholarship will be awarded to a Northwest instrumental music education major, from the wind or percussion area, for use during the junior and/or senior year of study. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and maintain this throughout the award year, be enrolled as a full-time student, and continue with membership in the Bearcat Marching Band, Wind Symphony, and/or Jazz Ensemble. Potential applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities in the Northwest band program, participation in a music service organization, and demonstrate financial need. The recipient may reapply for the senior year if  selected for their junior year.
