Patricia Boysen Accounting Scholarship
Patricia Sue Boysen graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1968 as salutatorian, one of the first two female accounting majors. After trying to break the glass ceiling for female auditors in the Big 8 accounting firms, she began work in the Federal Government first in the IRS, then in the Army Intern Program where she met the love of her life, Skip, at a budget course at Ft. Ben Harrison, Indiana in 1978. They were married in 1979 and began their life together in Indianapolis where she was a field auditor for Packers and Stockyards Division of the Department of Agriculture. In 1980, Washington DC called and she went to work for the Packers and Stockyards Headquarters. After six years, they grew tired of the traffic in DC and moved back to the Midwest. Skip got an active-duty tour at Fort Des Moines and she got on with the IRS. She worked in the large case groups auditing large corporations in the Des Moines area. She volunteered and was head of the 3rd COSCOM Family Support group from 1995-2004 where she helped families on the Germany and Iraq deployments. She retired from the IRS in 2004 after 32 years. Her large loving heart gave out on February 6, 2022 with her loving husband by her side.
