Recipient shall be a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA and showing financial need.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior Elementary Education major with preference given to a student involved with a fraternity or sorority. Academic achievement, effort, desire and sheer demonstration of the desire to teach young people will be the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a full-time student showing financial need.

Applicant must be a student who is majoring in accounting. The accounting faculty selects the recipient on the basis of scholarship, leadership ability, and the potential for a successful career in accounting.

Eligible applicants must be a Northwest sophomore or junior instrumental music major, with the award being used during his/her junior or senior year. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 to qualify, be in the process of completing the fourth trimester of study, and continue as a full-time instrumental music major during his/her junior year. The award is made on the basis of a recommendation from the instrumental music faculty and may be renewed for the senior year, provided the previous recipient reapplies and is selected. The student may be a wind, percussion, or piano major.

Recipient shall enrolled full-time and be studying in one of the following degree programs: Agricultural Business, Agriculture Education, Agricultural Science, or Agronomy.  Academic achievement will be the leading criteria and selection will be based on the department's rubric scoring guide.  December graduates may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session.

Must be a member of Northwest Agronomy Club for one trimester and have a 2.25 GPA. Based on participation and leadership in club.

Recipient shall be a graduate of a high school in the Missouri counties of Nodaway, Gentry or Worth and shall be enrolled full-time as a sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 3.25 GPA and a major declared within the School of Professional Education. Academic achievement, financial need and demonstration of success in the field of education shall be the leading criteria.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and classified as sophomores, juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.25 GPA.  Recipients shall also have declared a major in education, agriculture or mathematics.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a full-time student showing financial need.

Recipient shall be an entering freshman enrolled in at least 12 hours. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Available to a junior or senior returning to participate in an instrumental performance group, regardless of major, based on contributions to the program, continuous participation, academic performance, and scholarship needs.

Awarded to an entering freshman who is a prospective history/social science/pre-law major.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Nursing or Pre-Nursing. Academic achievement and financial need will be the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time, continuing student with a declared Mathematics Education major who has a mathematics GPA of at least 3.0.  The scholarship shall assist students in good standing who demonstrate potential success as a classroom teacher.  Preference shall be given to a graduate of a Missouri high school.

Junior or senior member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society.

Recipients shall be a junior or senior, having completed at least one semester at Northwest, and shall maintain enrollment to be considered full-time students. Recipients shall have a GPA of 2.25. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Must be an agricultural education major. Based on GPA, leadership and university activities.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time as a sophomore, junior or senior vocal or instrumental music major with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to instrumental music and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a black student enrolled full-time with a declared major within the School of Education. Incoming freshmen applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and continuing Northwest student applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must also provide in an essay format why they feel education is a game changer, how they were inspired to become a teacher and what attributes their favorite teacher used to help them excel. Financial need and academic excellence shall also be considered.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior with a declared major in Corporate Recreation/Wellness and have an upcoming enrollment in a recreation internship.  First preference shall be given to those who demonstrate interest and the potential for success as a personal trainer, including arrangements to complete a "recreation internship" consistent with demonstrated practices for a personal trainer to affirm the chosen career path of a personal trainer.  Financial need shall be considered.

Must have at least sophomore status and a declared major of Elementary or Middle School Education. A minimum GPA of 2.50 is required.

Recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered as full-time students. He/she shall be a graduate of a Missouri Platte County high school and shall be an education major. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

The recipient shall have declared a degree and major to pursue studies in the teaching of Physical Education. If such a recipient is not available in any given year, then the scholarship could be awarded to a Recreation major. The recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full time student by the University. All class levels are eligible for this award.

Preference shall be given to female graduate students or female students planning to pursue a graduate degree at Northwest and shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have qualified for the Northwest Promise scholarship program.

Recipient shall be a single parent enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Recipient shall also show leadership in a past or present organization.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall maintain enrollment in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters. Academic achievement and documented financial need shall be the leading criteria.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered full-time students by the University and shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Applicants must have declared an academic major in the area of vocal music, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, and show financial need. Eligible applicants must be members of Northwest Celebration at the time of application as well as during the year for which the scholarship is awarded.

Recipient must have declared a major in art education and shall have been admitted into the Professional Education program.  Recipient shall maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 as well as a GPA of 3.0 in his/her art courses. 


 

Education major with minimum sophomore status, 3.00 GPA, and committed to becoming a teacher. Applicants must demonstrate active involvement in a variety of activities contributing to personal growth and the betterment of Northwest.

Awarded to senior psychology major.

Awarded to an entering freshman that has declared a major in any of the disciplines available from the School of Agricultural Sciences. Recipient must be considered a full-time student. The scholarship is non-renewable.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Elementary, Middle School or Special Education with preference to Missouri residents. Academic achievement and financial need will be the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be an entering freshman and be considered a full-time student by the University. All eligible recipients must have graduated in the upper 25 percent of the graduating class and achieved a score on the ACT or SAT exams of at least the current U.S. National Average for that particular exam. Preference shall be given to students from Andrew, Buchanan, Holt, Nodaway and Worth counties in Missouri who have declared a major or minor in art, music, business (especially economics), pre-med, or computer science.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Biology, shall have accumulated a minimum of 60 credit hours and be classified as either a junior or senior at Northwest, shall have a miniumum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and shall show financial need.

Recipient shall maintain a GPA of 3.50, have declared an academic major in the area of Elementary Education, and show financial need. Eligible recipients shall have graduated from a high school in the Missouri counties of Harrison, Grundy, Nodaway, Atchison, Gentry, Worth, or Daviess and shall be a university junior or senior in the year the scholarship is awarded.

Recipients shall be entering freshmen of any ethnic minority. Recipients shall maintain enrollment in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters.

Recipient shall be a full-time student-athlete with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Priority will given to a graduate of Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa or Indianola High School in Indianola, Iowa with preference given to a female who is pursuing a career in coaching women's athletics and who has exhausted their athletics scholarship eligibility and is nearing degree completion.

Recipient shall be considered a full-time student by the University with a declared major in music and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  First preference shall be given to a high school graduate from one of the following Missouri counties: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Holt or Nodaway.  Second preference shall be given to recipients who have graduated from one of the following Missouri counties: Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Harrison, Worth or adjacent counties.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a full time continuing student who has been formally admitted into the Teacher Education Program. Recipient shall have declared a major within the field of Elementary Education and maintain a 3.00 or higher overall GPA in major and education courses. Submitted applications shall include two paragraphs explaining 1) the applicant's experiences with young people and 2) what the applicant hopes to accomplish as an elementary teacher.

Recipient of this award shall have a major in education, graduated from the Independence Missouri Public School District or Nodaway county high schools. Preference will be given to students majoring in Music or Business Education.

Recipients shall be enrolled full time. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria. Preference will be given to students having graduated from North Nodaway High School in Hopkins, MO. If possible, a second preference shall be given to students from this high school who will play or are playing basketball at Northwest Missouri State University.

Recipients shall be classified as a senior enrolled full-time with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Additionally, each recipient shall show financial need, having experienced a life-changing event and/or financial hardship that would otherwise have prevented them from graduating.

Recipients shall maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, have declared an academic major in the area of art and show financial need.

Recipient shall be a student athlete enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time student shall have declared a major in Speech/Theatre Education, and must maintain a GPA of 3.0. If no applicant qualifies, then the award shall be given to a Speech Communication major. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipients shall be classified as seniors and shall be considered full-time students. Recipients shall have declared a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education and shall maintain:

a. Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
b. Minimum 3.0 major field of study GPA
c. Minimum 3.0 GPA of courses taken in the School of Education

Financial need and demonstration of success in the field of education shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be an incoming freshman enrolled full-time with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and shall have declared a major in English Education.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Awarded to an entering freshman who plans to major in a physical education program within the School of Health Sciences and Wellness.

Awarded to a first-time freshman majoring in one of the areas in the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business (accounting, advertising, economics, finance, international business, management, marketing). It is a nonrenewable scholarship.

Recipient shall be classified as a University sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 2.50. All applicants must submit to the selection committee a minimum 500-word essay on why they choose to study abroad and how they expect the experience to enhance their degree program.

Available for students with a major in Psychology or Sociology who have junior or senior standing and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. The recipient will have a career objective related to social/family services and demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to a vocal music major, pursuing either a Bachelor of Science in Education or a Bachelor of Arts degree, to be used during their junior or senior year. Recipients must be full-time students during the trimesters of the award. Applicants must submit a one-page essay detailing the following: explain how you will apply the vocal music education you are receiving at Northwest to your future career plans and why you are deserving of this award (please include your accomplishments and contributions to the vocal music industry).

Recipient shall be classified as an incoming freshman enrolled full-time with a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 and a declared major within the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

This scholarship is renewable.

Recipient shall be a full time student majoring in English and maintaining a 3.00 GPA. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student working within the athletic department. First preference shall be given to a graduate assistant in the football program.  Injured players still wishing to be part of the team, student managers and/or those deserving of a second chance as deemed by the coach shall be considered in selection. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a continuing student enrolled full-time, shall be a Missouri resident with a minimum 2.5 GPA and shall have a declared major within the School of Agricultural Sciences.  Preference shall be given to students studying plant or animal science.

The recipient shall have declared a major in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness and shall be a continuing student enrolled full time. Commitment to leadership and dedication to the profession will be the leading criteria. Financial need will be given consideration.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Renewal requirements: The award is renewable for four years. To qualify for renewal, the student must remain Pell Grant eligible and complete at least 24 Northwest credit hours each academic year. Missouri residents must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative Northwest GPA and non-residents must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative Northwest GPA.

Awarded to a vocal music major with first preference given to a tenor. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipients shall be seniors or graduate students majoring in or doing graduate work in the field of school counseling who demonstrate need and superior performance and achievement in his or her major field of study.

Awarded to a senior Pi Omega Pi member, business education majors and graduate students pursuing a master's program in business education or instructional technology who are current or former Pi Omega Pi members. Scholarships are renewable.

Recipient shall be a theatre major of junior or senior status, which is of good moral character, possesses excellent academic standing and shows promise for excellence in the area of drama.

Candidates shall declare a major in chemistry, mathematics, or physics and they must attain junior or senior classification by the end of the current spring semester. Selection shall be by examination (see exam announcement). Junior award winners may receive the scholarship for their senior year if they maintain a GPA of 3.5 in mathematics and science, and an overall GPA of 3.0.  Transfer students are eligible for this scholarship. The exam will be held on the first Saturday in February that falls after the application deadline. Recipient shall be an undergraduate or transfer student. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria. Preference will be given to students who are graduates from high schools in Cass County, Iowa

This scholarship is made available by funds from the Northwest Foundation and is awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donor(s).

2. Active membership in SSS
3. Minimum Participation Requirements:

• Attended at least three TRiO Student Support Services sponsored events/workshops
• Met with Student Mentor
• Met with Academic Success Coach
• Improved academic skills in one of the following ways:
  • utilizing the SSC, Math Lab, Writing Skills Lab, or meeting with a student mentor
  • demonstrate financial need and shows considerable commitment to school

Recipients shall be considered full-time students and shall have declared a major in Chemistry.  Academic achievement shall be leading criteria.

Awarded to a student that has declared a major in the area of Geography with a minimum GPA of 3.00 and who has demonstrated excellence in scholarship, commitment to the discipline, and potential for advanced study and financial need.

Recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student, however part-time students enrolled in at least six hours may be considered. Recipient shall be a verteran of the U.S. Armed Forces (discharged, active or reservist members) and shall have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time international student who exemplifies positive contributions to Northwest through campus involvement, solid academic performance and leadership. First preference for the award shall be given to a student from Africa.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time at Northwest as an undergraduate majoring in Business or Education.  The recipient shall be a U.S. citizen that graduated from a high school within the four state region of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, or Kansas and shall also have unmet financial need.

This scholarship is made available by funds from the Northwest Foundation and is awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donor(s).

Given to a student who has contributed significantly to KZLX/KXCV/KRNW. Exhibits broadcast skills and shows academic accomplishment with minimum GPA of 2.50.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time sophomore, junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA and shall be pursuing a course of study in Accounting. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipient must have declared a major in agriculture.

Recipient shall be enrolled full time and be from one of the following Iowa counties that comprise the central Iowa chapter of the alumni association: Polk, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Warren, Marion, Boone, Story or Marshall.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be an entering freshman and considered a full-time student. Recipient shall reside within a CenturyLink local telephone service area. Strong preference is given to students maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Recipients shall be graduates of the public school systems of Scotland and/or Schuyler Counties in Missouri, be in need of financial aid, and shall be an entering freshman. Financial need and academic achievement will be the leading criteria. Students graduating from a Scotland or Schuyler County high school whom are transferring to Northwest can be considered in the absence of a qualifying entering freshmen. If ever there are no qualifying graduates of the public school systems of Scotland or Schuyler counties in Missouri, then students having graduated from the public school systems located in Clark, Lewis, Knox, Adair, Putnam, and Sullivan counties may be considered.

Applicant must be a full-time, freshman student majoring in accounting for use in their sophomore year.

Awarded annually to a high GPA Sophomore or Junior Geology or Earth Science education major that shows promise of becoming a professional Geologist/Geology professor or Earth Science teacher, with suitability for graduate study and shows financial need.

Recipient shall be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior at Northwest who has declared a major in Accounting, Economics or Finance. Preference will be given to Albany, Missouri R-III graduates who are involved in campus organizations and hold leadership positions in campus organizations.

Recipients shall have graduated from a high school in Caldwell or Ray County, Missouri with preference for declared academic majors or minors given in the following order: Agriculture, Chemistry, and any academic area with the expressed exception that students pursuing a major or minor related to athletics or physical education shall not be considered eligible candidates. Recipients shall be classified as sophomores, juniors, or seniors at Northwest and shall maintain enrollment in at least 12 hours per trimester. The recipient shall have maintained the highest GPA of all candidates meeting the above criteria.

This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding chemistry major for use towards tuition, fees, room and board or other college expense. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and will be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a Northwest Missouri State University athlete who has not yet completed his/her degree but has used all of his/her athletic eligibility. First preference will be given to a men's basketball player. If no such students are eligible, student-athletes who participated in another varsity sport may be considered for the award. Financial need will be leading criteria to assist the recipient in the completion of his/her degree.

Two Elementary Education majors will be selected annually. Applicants must have completed two semesters at Northwest Missouri State University with at least 56 semester hours of academic credit and a grade point average of at least 3.00.

Recipients shall be a senior Mass Media: Multimedia Journalism major and shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA within the major.  Recipients shall be on the editorial board of a student publication in the year the award is received.  First preference shall be given to those who served as editor of at least two student publications.  Second preference shall be given to those who served on more than one editorial board.  Recipients shall show financial need including sources of financial support (family, work, grants, loans) and shall submit a 250-500 word essay titled, "Why I Appreciate My Training in the Field of Mass Media from Northwest."

 

Recipient shall be a resident of Iowa, Kansas or Nebraska, classified as a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time with a declared major within the School of Education. Recipient shall have a GPA between 2.75 and 3.5. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be in good standing, have a minimum GPA of 3.25, demonstrated high potential for leadership, and shall be a senior in the year the scholarship is received. Recipient shall have graduated from a high school in the Missouri counties of Worth, Harrison, Gentry, Daviess, Clinton, Caldwell, or DeKalb.

Recipient shall be a full time junior or senior or an Economics graduate student.  Recipient shall be a US citizen and a member of the National Guard or US military.

Awarded to a junior or senior history major with a cumulative GPA of 2.50.

Recipient shall be a black student enrolled full-time who is the first in their immediate family to attend a four-year college or University. Incoming freshmen applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and continuing Northwest student applicants shall have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Applicants must also respond to the essay question, "Explain why you were inspired to achieve a 4-yr college degree, how you overcame adversity on your journey to a college degree and what you will do to make a positive difference in the lives of others." Financial need and academic excellence shall also be considered in the selection process.

Recipient shall have a minimum GPA of 2.00 and be a graduate of North Andrew High School. First preference will be given to an entering freshman with a declared academic major in the area of education and secondly to an entering freshman from North Andrew High School without regard to academic major. If there are no qualifying students, an upperclassman from North Andrew High School may be selected.

Eligible recipients of the Clear, Cayhoga, Muddy Creeks Scholarship must be Missouri residents currently residing in the district previously known and designated as the Clear, Cayhoga, Muddy Creeks Watershed District. This former watershed district includes a large portion of the West Nodaway R-l School District and small portions of the Maryville R-ll and North Nodaway R-Vl School Districts. Eligible recipients shall be Northwest freshman or sophomores, freshman minimum 2.00 cumulative high school GPA, and sophomores minimum 2.50 Northwest cumulative GPA. Eligible recipients shall have demonstrated good school and community citizenship, and all other factors being equal, financial need may be the determining factor in the selection of recipients.

Recipient and/or recipients’ families shall be actively involved in the Clearmont Community Club and/or have a Clearmont address. Recipients shall be graduating seniors at West Nodaway High School in Burlington Jct., Missouri and shall be accepted as entering freshmen at Northwest. Recipients shall have a minimum GPA of 2.50 and be involved in community and school activities.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time.  First preference shall be given to a freshman agriculture major that is a graduate of Lexington RV High School in Lexington, Missouri.  If there are no candidates that meet this criteria, previous recipients may reapply to be considered. If there are no candidates at that time, the agriculture major requirement is waived and the award may go to any student that is a graduate of Lexington High School.  Financial need shall be leading criteria.

This scholarship is to be used for semester long study abroad programs and shall be awarded to a full-time continuing student who shows financial need.

Rising junior or senior computer science major that has made significant contributions to computer science or the computer science/information systems department.

Recipient shall be classified as a graduate student enrolling in their second semester of the Masters of Science in Applied Computer Science program.  Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Available to all majors enrolled in at least nine credit hours per trimester showing progress toward completion of degree requirements. Preference for this award will be given to a "displaced homemaker," with second preference given to a similarly worthy student who is overcoming barriers to obtain their college degree.

Any junior or senior finance major who has a 3.00 GPA may apply for the Cook Finance Award. Selection is made by the finance faculty in conjunction with the Booth College of Business and Professional Studies scholarship committee.

Awarded to either an incoming freshman or continuing music student who desires to participate in the jazz program at Northwest. Individuals must declare either a major or minor in music and must maintain full-time enrollment at Northwest. In addition, selection will be determined on talent and financial need.

This scholarship will be presented to students with a major in Accounting, Marketing, or Finance. A minimum of 60 credit hours is required with at least 30 of those hours earned from Northwest Missouri State University, and a minimum overall GPA of 3.50. Applicants will be considered on their prior record of good citizenship and leadership potential as well as an excellent potential for success in the business world. Three recommendations, including one from a faculty member of the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business are required for the Cook-Imes Distinguished Scholarship.

No recipient may be related to a member of the selection committee.

Recipient shall be a student from Iowa, considered full time, shall have declared a major housed within the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business, and maintain a 3.00 GPA. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.  Preference shall be given to students from the following counties in Iowa: Adair, Adams, Audubon, Cass, Clarke, Dallas, Decatur, Fremont, Guthrie, Harrison, Madison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor, Union, and Warren.

Recipients shall be graduates of Mt. Ayr High School in Iowa with a first preference for entering freshmen, and then to continuing and transfer students.

Recipient must have declared a major in English or English education, have a 3.50 GPA, and show financial need.

This scholarship is made available by funds from the Northwest Foundation and is awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donor(s). Applicants from Texas will be given preference.

Recipient shall be an outstanding junior enrolled full-time with an interest in pursuing a career as a lawyer. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient must have declared a major in agriculture.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and classified as sophomores, juniors or seniors. Two scholarships will be awarded annually: one to a female member of the Greek community and one to a male member of the Greek community. Recipients must be in good standing within their respective sorority and fraternity according to their chapter rules and bylaws. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be considered a full-time senior majoring in English. The recipient shall have the top GPA which is cumulative of all English major courses by the end of the fall trimester before his/her graduation date.

Recipients shall have graduated from Worth County High School in Grant City, Missouri and maintain full-time enrollment at Northwest. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

When available funds exceed the capacity to award to eligible graduates of Worth County High School, the pool of candidates may be expanded first to graduates of any high school in Gentry County, Missouri and then to graduates of any high school in Ringgold County, Iowa.

Renewability shall be at the discretion of the selection committee and shall give first preference to graduates of Worth County High School.

Recipient shall be considered a full-time student enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters with a declared major in Agriculture.  First preference will be given to students who attended high school in Nodaway or Gentry counties in Missouri.  If there are no qualified applicants from those counties, the area will be expanded to Worth, Andrew, Holt, and Atchison counties in Missouri. If there are no applicants from the above areas, students from other geographic locations who are majoring in agriculture will be considered.  Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a Northwest Missouri State University athlete who has not yet completed his/her degree but has used all of his/her athletic eligibility.

Recipient shall be an entering freshman, a graduate of Maryville High School and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. The recipient shall show exemplary citizenship and dedication to the band program. Recipients shall have participated in instrumental performance groups in high school and shall be involved in instrumental performance at Northwest. Music faculty at Maryville High School will select recipient.
 

Recipient shall be a junior or senior enrolled full-time with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Recipient shall have declared a major in one of the concentration areas of Digital Media.

First preference may be given to those selected to complete an internship with Northwest's Learning & Teaching Center. 

Financial need may be considered.

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.0 GPA and a declared major in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science & Informatics - Computer Science, Digital Media - Computer Science or Management Information Systems. Preference shall be given to Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Hispanic/Latinx, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students.

The recipient shall be a cross country student athlete with preference given to a female and shall be considered a full-time student by the University.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be classified as either freshmen or continuing students enrolled full-time. Recipients shall have declared a major within the School of Agricultural Sciences and be from one of the following counties: In Iowa - Adair, Adams, Cass, Clarke, Decatur, Fremont, Madison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Taylor or Union.  In Missouri - Atchison, Harrison, Mercer, Nodaway or Worth. Priorities shall be given in this order: academic excellence, financial need and from a rural high school.

Recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate domestic student enrolled in on-ground classes at the Maryville, Missouri campus. Recipient shall be a U.S. citizen that has graduated from a high school within the four-state region of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska or Kansas and shall be a racial or ethnic minority student with unmet financial need that is underrepresented in relation to the university's goal to achieve education benefits of a diverse student body.

This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior speech communication, public relations or mass communication major with a minimum 3.00 GPA. It is judged on academic performance, participation in journalism activities, financial need, character and service to the university.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior and considered a full time student with at least a 3.00 GPA. December graduates do not qualify for the fall award. The recipient shall have declared a major in Geography. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in art. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Middle School or Secondary Education area and shall be classified as a junior or senior. First preference for the award is for a student that has submitted paperwork for International Student Teaching placement. Second preference is for a student meeting the requirements that are participating in a Study Abroad program. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipients must be majoring in Special Education or a related field, have a GPA of 2.75, and show financial need.

Recipient shall be an entering freshman enrolled full-time with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a declared major in any area of business within the Melvin D. & Valorie G. Booth School of Business.  First preference shall be given to first generation female students.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Awarded to a Northwest student who is a junior or senior music major. Must have a 4.00 GPA in piano and music history.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time. Financial need and academic achievement will be leading criteria. Preference shall be given to graduates of Worth County High School in Grant City, Missouri.

Recipients shall be full-time students and shall have declared a major within the Melvin D. & Valorie G. Booth School of Business.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have been formally admitted into the Teacher Education program. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

The recipient shall be a full-time, continuing student, with at least one year of undergraduate coursework remaining at Northwest, with a declared minor (or major) in the interdisciplinary study of Gerontology, and shall have completed at least 9 hours in Gerontology coursework. If no qualified applicant has chosen this field of study, then the Committee shall consider applications from students with demonstrated intent to work with and the potential for success to assist the aging and older adult population. The recipient shall be chosen based on policies and standards offered for the interdisciplinary study of Gerontology by Northwest Missouri State University, including consideration for academic achievement and financial need.

Recipient should be pursuing the specialist in education degree in Educational Leadership. The recipient must have successfully completed at least one trimester of classes and be currently enrolled with at least six hours left to complete in the specialists in education degree program.

Recipients shall be an education major with a 3.00 GPA, and be actively involved in financing their education through employment. Financial need shall be a determining factor. Preference will be given to a graduate of North Harrison High School, Eagleville, MO. in upper third of graduating class who have met all other requirements.

Awarded to prospective junior and senior majors in political science or public administration. Qualified candidates will be active in departmental student organizations and will have demonstrated serious academic application to both the university and departmental course work.

Students with a major or minor in the physical sciences (chemistry, physics, science education), with a preference to those who have taken the Astronomy course at Northwest.

Recipient shall be a black student enrolled full-time. Incoming freshmen applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and continuing Northwest student applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must also provide in an essay format why leading is important at this time on their journey, how they lead within their community and/or school to advance racial equity and what their legacy will include in terms of impact on Northwest.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior majoring in Elementary Education. Financial need and academic achievement will be the leading criteria. December graduates may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session.

Recipient shall have completed at least 12 credit hours in his or her major of dietetics. The recipient shall have at least a 3.20 GPA in his or her major and submit two letters of support from faculty members as well as a one to two page essay describing his or her educational and career aspirations in addition to the application.

Recipient shall be a full-time Northwest student and a member of the Northwest Jazz Ensemble. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be selected on the basis of financial need with no restriction as to the area of academic study except that recipients shall not have a declared major or minor in the area of physical education.

Awarded to a full-time junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.  The recipients shall display a trailblazing spirit as individually determined by the Committee.  Such spirit might be discovered in a first generation college student, or in the underlying variables that led the recipient to the declared major, or in the commitment of non-traditional students as they juggle work, school and family to better their lives.  A one-page essay describing those unique qualifications is required.

Recipient of scholarship must have a declared education degree, GPA of 2.50, show financial need, and be a member of men’s or women’s varsity track team.

This scholarship will be awarded to a returning active junior or senior member of Sigma Alpha Iota who is in good standing with the organization, has exhibited loyalty to the fraternity, and maintained an active participation in the group. The applicant must be a member of a performing ensemble at Northwest, have at least a "B" average in applied studies, a 3.00 minimum cumulative GPA in music courses, as well as a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Awarded to a continuing student with a declared major in the biological sciences. Financial need will be considered.

The recipient shall have declared a major in Vocal Music Education. The recipient shall be classified as senior and shall receive the entirety of the scholarship in their student teaching semester. The recipient shall be selected based on their demonstrated promise of success and future leadership as a P-12 choral director.
 

Recipients shall have declared a major in Pre-Med, Pre-Vet, or Life Sciences and shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a continuing student enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters. Recipient shall have declared a major in any area of Agriculture. First preference will be given to residents of northwest Missouri.

Recipient shall be classified as full-time, continuing student who has been formally admitted into the Teacher Education Program.  The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA, shall have declared a double major in elementary education and special education and be preparing to teach in the special education classroom.  This scholarship shall assist students demonstrating a passion for and potential success as a special education classroom teacher with first preference being given to applicants from Nebraska.  Additional preference shall be given to applicants who will be completing student teaching while receiving the scholarship. 

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time, classified as a junior or senior, shall have declared a major in education and shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and classified as sophomores, juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a declared major in one of the theatre disciplines including speech/theatre education. Consideration will be given to those who intend to pursue advanced degrees in theatre or to teach theatre in public school systems or higher education.

Recipients must be seniors majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education and have a GPA of 3.00. Applicants must also be members of Student MSTA Chapter and be admitted to the Teacher Education program.

Recipient shall be a Tower yearbook student who is on the editorial board and maintains a GPA of at least 2.75. The recipient shall also be assigned a mentor for one year following the award from a list compiled by the Director of Student Publications.

Preference will be given to a student working at the KZLX radio station, with KXCV radio station given second preference. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need.

Recipients shall maintain a GPA of 3.00, have declared a major in the area of Geography and show financial need.

Recipient shall be classified as a continuing student enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in Physical Education with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipients shall show financial need.

Recipients shall have a minimum GPA of 2.50, shall be graduates of South Harrison High School, and shall be entering freshmen or continuing students at Northwest. Recipients should show exemplary leadership, communication skills, involvement in school and community activities, and demonstrate financial need. All factors being equal, preference may be given to applicants with a declared academic major in a business related area.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall be a graduate of Atlantic High School in Atlantic, Iowa. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria and given equal weight in determining the recipient.

Recipients shall be incoming freshmen with a minimum 3.0 GPA as well as a 21 ACT or 100 Admissions Index. Recipients must reside in the following 21-county service region:

Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray, Worth

Iowa: Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, Taylor

Kansas: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Nemaha

Nebraska: Nemaha, Richardson

Financial need shall be leading criteria. This scholarship is renewable up to 4 years with a Northwest cumulative 3.0 GPA.
 

Awarded to junior or senior recreation majors with a 3.00 GPA. Two recipients per year, preferable one male and one female.

Awarded to an outstanding sophomore or junior majoring in music at Northwest, who shows excellent ability in his or her applied area, to be used during his/her junior or senior year of study. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 to be eligible and maintain it throughout the year of the award, as well as be a member of an instrumental or vocal ensemble. Students need not be members of the professional music fraternities to qualify, but membership in these organizations will be considered a positive factor when the selection committee makes its decision, as membership in these groups indicates a serious desire by the recipient to further the cause of music in the United States, and implies a professional attitude toward music.

The Eckert Collegiate Journalism Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior mass media major with a minimum 3.00 GPA. This award is based on need, academic accomplishments and journalistic service.

Recipients shall be graduates of North Harrison High School or South Harrison High School and shall be enrolled full-time at Northwest with a minimum 2.5 GPA. First preference shall be given to students with a declared major within the School of Agricultural Sciences and second preference shall be given to students with a declared major within the Melvin D. & Valorie G. Booth School of Business.

Recipient shall be a full-time sophomore or higher and have declared a major in English. Academic achievement and financial need will be considered.

Recipient shall be a full-time student demonstrating an active role in a co-curricular student experience at the University. The recipient shall have accumulated at least 30 credit hours at Northwest and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Scholarship recipients must have graduated from a high school located in either Bates or Nodaway counties in Missouri. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

A senior finance major with at least a 3.00 GPA may apply for this scholarship. Potential for success in the financial world is the major criterion used in the selection process.

This scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female with a junior class standing. Candidates must be majoring in History or Social Science with considerable emphasis upon American History and Government.

A junior or senior student majoring in education with a 2.75 GPA. Applicant must show promise as a teacher and demonstrate financial need.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Elementary Education. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

The Elswick-Hamm Business Education Scholarship is awarded to a prospective business education teacher.  Preference is given to a post-baccalaureate candidate pursing alternative certification or certification.  If there are no candidates meeting this criteria, the scholarship may be awarded to a senior undergraduate business major.

Recipient shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50, have declared a major in Management, Marketing or Finance, have demonstrated leadership ability, and be classified as junior or senior.

Recipients shall be classified as full-time students by the University.  This scholarship shall assist students in good standing who demonstrate potential to succeed.

Recipient shall be a domestic minority student who has completed between 24-59 credit hours of study. Recipient shall have the top Northwest cumulative GPA, maintain enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours per trimester, and shall not have received a President's Scholarship. Recipient shall have financial need calculated and determined through the FAFSA application.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time, continuing student who has been formally admitted into the Teacher Education Program.  Recipient shall first be preparing to teach by having declared a major in any content area within Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle School Education or Secondary Education.  Second preference shall be given to a student of any ethnic minority.  Third preference shall be given to a student with financial need.  Lastly, an additional preference shall be given to assist a student pursuing a B.S.-Ed Social Science (History).

Recipient shall be a junior or senior Elementary Education major that is “truly passionate about elementary education.”

Recipients shall be an education major and have a GPA of 2.75 and completed a volunteer project with people who have a disability. Recipients shall show financial need.

Recipients shall be a psychology major and have a GPA of 2.75 and completed a volunteer project with people who have a disability.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior pursuing a major within the field of education at either the elementary or secondary level and shall maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Recipient must also be a member of SMSTA.

Awarded to an agriculture major. Prospective sophomore, junior or senior with a 2.25 GPA or above.

This scholarship is made available by funds from the Northwest Foundation and is awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donor(s).

Recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered as a full-time student and shall be enrolled in a university sponsored study abroad program.  Recipient must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application and submit a goal statement of the study abroad experience.

Awarded to a university sophomore, junior or senior majoring in one of the agricultural sciences with a cumulative GPA of 3.00. Recipient must have graduated from a Missouri high school and demonstrate leadership skills with attributes in ethical behavior, initiative and a sense of pride for the agricultural industry. Preference will be given to students who plan on returning to production agriculture.

Recipients shall have elected a major in either mathematics or physics with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Chosen from the following areas in order as they appear: Gilman City High School, Gilman City, MO; Northeast High School, Kansas City, MO; Maryville High School, Maryville, MO; then to applicants from any other school.

Awarded to full time music majors with a preference for instrumentalists. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time junior or senior accounting major with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall have graduated from a public school district in Nodaway County, Missouri. First preference will be given to entering freshmen as well as farm youth. All fields of study are eligible. See high school counselor for application.

Recipient shall be enrolled full time and shall be one of the following: an English major or minor, a member of Blue Key Society, or a varsity tennis player. Recipient shall also have a GPA of at least 2.50.

Recipients shall be graduates of Nodaway Holt High School with good character as demonstrated through active participation in school activities and community service, shall have a minimum high school GPA of 2.50 and shall be entering freshmen at Northwest. Recipients shall also show financial need.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Renewal requirements: The award is renewable for four years. To qualify for renewal, the student must remain Pell Grant eligible and complete at least 24 Northwest credit hours each academic year. Missouri residents must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative Northwest GPA and non-residents must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative Northwest GPA.

Minimum GPA of 3.00, junior or senior biology major with emphasis in pre-med or pre-dentistry. Financial need will be considered.

This scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior mass media major or minor with at least one semester remaining at Northwest. The person must maintain active involvement in KNWT-TV. Preference will be given to the individual demonstrating merit, leadership and involvement in KNWT-TV.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Recipient shall be a full-time current or entering undergraduate student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 with financial need as determined by the Selection Committee.  Recipient shall have declared an undergraduate major in Computer Science, Digital Media with a Computer Science concentration, or Management Information Systems.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Awarded to a junior or senior with a declared major in the chemistry field or a degree program which combines Chemistry and Biology. Recipient shall maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30.

Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior history or social science major with a cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Recipient shall be a full-time junior or senior with a minimum 3.25 GPA and shall have declared a major with one of the political science disciplines. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

This scholarship will be awarded based on academic performance, participation in speech-related activities, financial need, and/or plans to enter the field of speech education.

Recipient shall be considered a full time student enrolled in at least 12 hours per fall and spring trimesters. December graduates may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session. Recipient shall have declared a math major with first preference given to a Mathematics Education major. Having met all other criteria, first preference will be given to recipients originally from the Northwest Missouri area. Strong preference shall be given to continuing students and particularly non-traditional students.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

The Gilbert Whitney Madralier Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one outstanding member of the current Madraliers/Northwest Celebration ensemble to encourage continued participation in the organization throughout the entire following school year. Applicants must be continuing music majors or minors studying applied voice, be a Madrigal/NW Celebration member in good standing, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, while maintaining this GPA during the award year. They must also have contributed in a leadership role through office positions or committee assignments, as well as solo or small ensemble performances, within the Madrigal Group.

Recipient shall be considered a full-time student by the University. Preference shall be given to students from Nodaway County, Missouri. Financial need is leading criteria. Any student whose tuition is reduced because a parent is employed by the University shall not be eligible for the scholarship.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and be either a feature twirler of exemplary ability or a member of the color guard who demonstrates leadership.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Renewal requirements: The award is renewable for four years. To qualify for renewal, the student must remain Pell Grant eligible and complete at least 24 Northwest credit hours each academic year. Missouri residents must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative Northwest GPA and non-residents must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative Northwest GPA.

Recipients of this fellowship shall be graduate students pursuing a Master's of Arts in English or Master of Science in Education in Teaching English.  First preference shall be given to a first year graduate student.  If there is no suitable incoming student, the award may be given to a continuing graduate student. 

Recipients shall be incoming freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time. Recipients must indicate an interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement (but can be studying any major). Preference shall first be given to black female students, then to black male students. If there are no applicants meeting these preferences, it may be open to all students.

Recipient shall maintain a 3.0 GPA, exhibit financial need, be a pre-med major and be from the McFall, Glasgow, Harrisburg, MO area.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Pre-Medical, Pre-Pharmacy, or Pre-Dentistry. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Awarded to a junior or senior interested in entering some phase of social work with 3.00 minimum GPA.

The H.F. "Hoot" Holland Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student that has declared a major in political science with preference given to applicants from Nodaway or Worth County. If qualified candidates from these counties are not available, other candidates will be given consideration. Available to prospective juniors or seniors, made on the basis of need and academic standing. Recipient must have a 2.50 GPA.

This annual scholarship will be awarded to a pre-pharmacy student. The recipient must be of good moral character, with excellent academic standing, show financial need and promise for excellence in the area of pharmacy.

Awarded annually to sophomore, junior or senior accounting majors who have successfully completed Intermediate Accounting I and demonstrate the potential for a successful career in accounting. The accounting faculty will select the recipient(s) based on performance in the most recent academic year.

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a declared major in Elementary Education. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major within the School of Agricultural Sciences. Applicants must complete an essay describing their sense of pride in the agricultural community along with their lifelong commitment to agriculture and its advancement through their utilization of internships, profession-based learning opportunities and/or steps taken in preparation for careers in production agriculture. Financial need shall be the determining factor in the selection process.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall be awarded on the basis of merit to a student with a major within the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences with a preference to a philosophy student.

Awarded to a worthy student in business administration who resides on campus. Eligible are juniors and seniors at Northwest the following year and graduate students who will be working toward an MBA the following year. Selection is made on the basis of scholarship and financial need of the student. Preference is given to students who have not received any other scholarships.

Recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered full-time.  Recipient shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University with financial need being the leading criteria.  First preference shall be given to students and/or veterans who graduated from high schools in Taylor or Ringold counties in Iowa.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior, declared a major in any content area within Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle School Education, or Secondary Education. First preference will be given to those in the process of submitting paperwork for International Student Teaching placement, and second preference will be given to those participating in a Study Abroad program.

Recipient shall be a continuing student enrolled full-time.  First preference shall be given to a student participating in the Northwest Dance Company (or its successor).  If there isn't a candidate based on the Northwest Dance Company preference, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student with a declared major within the School of Health Science and Wellness.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be upperclassmen declaring a major in Humanities or Social Sciences, show financial need, and show good academic standing, having maintained a GPA of 3.00.

This scholarship shall be awarded annually to a junior or senior education major who has expressed an intention of becoming a classroom instructor and has maintained a 3.00 GPA. At least one shall be awarded to a Secondary Education major.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  First preference of awarding shall be given to an entering freshman who is a child or grandchild of a Sig Tau alumnus.  Second preference shall be given to a continuing student who is a child or grandchild of a Sig Tau alumnus.  Third preference shall be given to an active Sig Tau attending Northwest.

Recipient shall be classified as an incoming freshman enrolled full-time with a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 and shall have declared a major within the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Two recipients shall be selected annually. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time as a junior or senior. Sophomores may be considered if there are not sufficient junior or senior candidates. Recipients shall have declared a B.S. in Chemistry, ACS accredited. If there are not qualified candidates meeting that criteria, students pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry may be considered. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria as well as preference given to those considering post-graduate studies.

Awarded to a junior art major with excellent academic standing to be used during their senior year. The recipient will show promise in the area of art, with preference given to students in ceramics and painting.

Recipients shall be enrolled as full-time students and shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.75 GPA and a declared major within the School of Health Science & Wellness with a degree in Psychology or a degree from the School of Education with an emphasis in Special Education. Recipients shall also be from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska or Oklahoma. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior chemistry major with a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students with a desire to pursue a professional medical degree. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be full time students showing financial need and academic achievement. Preference will be given to students who graduated from a high school in Nodaway or Andrew counties in Missouri.

Recipient shall be an entering freshman, shall have a minimum high school GPA of 3.00, and have declared an academic major in the area of education. Preference shall be given to students from Mills County, Iowa. Nodaway, Worth, or Atchison Counties in Missouri may be considered if a student from Mills County does not qualify.

Recipient shall be a full-time student from Andrew or Buchanan County.

Recipient(s) shall be classified as an undergraduate student enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA and shall have declared a major within the Melvin D. & Valorie G. Booth School of Business. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients will be entering freshmen who have graduated from a Missouri high school, rank in the upper 10 percent of their graduating class, score at or near the upper 90th percentile on the ACT or SAT, demonstrate financial need (although such award is not to be based on need alone) and are pursuing a teaching career.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered full-time students by the University. Recipients shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipient shall have declared a major in marketing or management and have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Preference will be given to a married student who graduated from a high school in Iowa; however, if no such student exists, the criteria can be expanded to help any undergraduate junior or senior or graduate student from Iowa.

A biology major that shows promise for excellence in the area of biology. Overall GPA of 3.00, 45 credit hours earned at Northwest (with 12 of these hours in biology), and good moral character.

Recipient shall have declared an interest in coaching and demonstrate that interest by receiving a graduate assistantship for coaching football at Northwest. Financial need and student interest in pursuing a career in coaching will be leading criteria.

This scholarship shall be used to offset overseas costs associated with any international business study program arranged through the University and considered part of the recipient’s academic program. It is awarded to a full time business major demonstrating outstanding academic achievement in the classroom. Recipient shall have also demonstrated a need for financial assistance in order to complete the study abroad program.

The J. Gordon Strong Scholarship in Chemistry is awarded annually to outstanding chemistry majors for use during their sophomore year. Selection is based on GPA, promise as professional chemists and participation in departmental activities.

Available to students with junior standing (75 or more credit hours) to be awarded during the senior year. Must demonstrate strong academic achievement, leadership and/or service accomplishments, involvement with campus/community, and financial need.

Recipients shall be full time students enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters. Preference will be given to students from Bedford, Iowa.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.  Primary preference will be given to juniors and seniors who are American Dream Grant scholars with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Preference shall be given to graduates of Gallatin High School in Gallatin, MO and South Harrison High School in Bethany, MO.

Recipients shall maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25, have declared an academic major in the area of agriculture and have a career objective to work in production agriculture. Recipients shall be graduates of a high school in Nodaway County, Missouri or Taylor County, Iowa and if none shall qualify, then any graduate of a Missouri high school. Recipients shall be juniors at Northwest Missouri State University in the year the scholarship is received and the scholarship may be renewed.

Recipients shall be of good moral character with excellent academic standing, be classified as a sophomore, and show promise for excellence in the area of social science with a preference in history. The scholarship may be renewed for the junior and senior year.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior Agricultural Business major enrolled full-time with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a full-time student showing financial need.

Recipient shall be classified as a returning student (sophomore, junior, or senior) and shall have declared a major in physical education. Financial need will be leading criteria with academic achievement also taken into consideration.

Recipient shall be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA.  Recipient shall have declared a major in theatre or speech/theatre education within the Department of Fine and Performing Arts.

Recipient shall be classified as an entering freshman or sophomore and shall be considered a full-time student. Recipient shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 with preference given to a female with a declared academic major in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Digital Media with a Computer Science concentration. If a female student does not meet the above requirements, then the scholarship can be awarded to a male student. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall be chosen based on policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.75 GPA.  Recipient shall be pursuing a major in Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology or Nursing and also have the desire to work with individuals with disabilities.

Preference shall be given to a female student declaring a major in the Computer Science and Information Systems, Mathematics, or Science. Recipient shall maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 and financial need will be leading criteria.

The Jeremy D. Barlow Memorial Music Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is enrolled in either Applied Piano and/or Applied Harpsichord at Northwest during the academic year of the award. In the event that no such applicant exists, a saxophonist may apply for this scholarship. The recipient must also be classified as a full time student by the University and have/maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. The award will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters, but December graduates may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session. Financial need will not be criteria for eligibility.

This scholarship is made available by funds from the Northwest Foundation and is awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donor(s).

Awarded to a Theatre: Technical and Design major or a speech/theatre education major enrolled full-time with a 2.50 GPA.

Awarded to an incoming freshman with a declared major in education, with a preference given to students from St. Charles and St. Louis, MO.  Geographic preferences may be removed if there is not an eligible applicant from preferred areas.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be of the African diaspora and enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Recipients shall also show active involvement in a university affiliated organization. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior under-represented student enrolled full-time.  Financial need is leading criteria.

Awarded to sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA and 3.00 GPA in their major. Recipients shall demonstrate a record of leadership, sportsmanship and academic commitment. Preference shall be given to physical education majors and members of the men’s tennis team.

Recipients shall be continuing students and enrolled full time. The recipient shall have declared a major in Animal Science. If there are no Animal Science majors, then the scholarship may be awarded to someone in another area of agriculture. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a declared major within the School of Agricultural Sciences.  Recipient shall be a graduate of a high school in one of the following Missouri counties: Andrew, Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, Dekalb or Gentry or Iowa county of Audubon. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior language major or minor that is eligible to enroll in a Modern Languages class beyond the first-year level.

Awarded to a junior or senior history/social science major/minor with a cumulative GPA of 3.00

Awarded to a sophomore music major who will be returning as a music major at Northwest for use during the junior year of study. The recipient will be selected from the applicants on the basis of having the highest GPA for the first three trimesters of work, maintaining at least a B average in applied lessons, and being enrolled as a full-time student during the fourth trimester of study.

Recipient shall be considered full-time and classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior with a 2.5 GPA. All applicants must submit a minimum 500 word essay on why they serve as a peer mentor, tutor or supplemental instruction leader for the Student Success Center or TRiO Student Support Services and how they expect the experience to enhance their degree program. Preference will be granted to those seeking an education degree which follows in the spirit of this namesake award.  Interviews may be required.

Recipient shall be a continuing full time Northwest student with a declared a major in accounting, economics or finance with first preference to accounting majors. Preference shall also be given to students from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas, in that order that demonstrates financial need.

Recipient must be a full time junior or senior student who demonstrates leadership, has a 2.85 GPA, and is majoring in Elementary Education, Middle School Education or Secondary Education. Recipient shall have demonstrated leadership among his/her peers and have a strong potential for becoming a significant contributor in the field of education.

Recipients shall be full time students showing financial need and academic achievement.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a declared major within the School of Education. Preference shall be giving to Special Education majors. Academic achievement shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be involved in any field of study, be a full-time student, demonstrate academic achievement, be actively involved in campus, community, and Wesley Center activities, and have completed at least 24 credit hours of coursework.

Recipient shall be theatre major or speech/theatre education major.  If two scholarships are awarded in any given year, then one each shall be awarded to a theatre major and speech/theatre education major.  Must have at least a 3.00 GPA and be an active participant in departmental productions and have the potential to make a significant contribution to the field.

Recipients shall be senior education majors with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  This scholarship shall be awarded to a student teacher candidate at the elementary, middle or secondary level with first preference given to a candidate planning to student teach in a rural area. 

This award goes to the student who serves as a sideline reporter for all of the Bearcat Radio Network football broadcasts. The recipient's responsibilities also include producing pre- and post- game interviews and player profile interviews for the Bearcat Radio Network.

Recipients shall be from the Kansas City metro area (Clay, Jackson or Platte counties in Missouri and Wyandotte or Johnson counties in Kansas). Recipients shall be classified as upperclassmen and shall maintain enrollment in the fall and spring trimesters to be considered full-time by the University. Preference will be to assist students maintaining a minimum 2.75 GPA.

Recipients must be current members of Kappa Omicron Nu National Honor Society, now completing an undergraduate degree at Northwest Missouri State University who are 1) applying to graduate school to pursue any academic discipline or 2) applying to a Dietetics Internship or ISPP.

Applicant must be a full-time, first-trimester freshman student majoring in accounting.

Recipients shall have declared a major in physical education or recreation with minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.  Recipients shall have completed 60 hours prior to applying for scholarship, at least 30 of those hours at Northwest. Preference shall be given to female applicants.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time as a University freshman, sophomore, junior or senior and shall be a dependent of a full-time Kawasaki employee (from any Kawasaki plant location).  Sophomores, juniors and seniors must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  A short essay is required answering the following: 1) Define your potential and 2) Describe how this scholarship will assist you to Power Your Potential.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered full-time students by the University and shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a first-generation, full-time student.  Recipient shall be a sophomore, junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA and have a declared major in a technology related field. Priorities given to financial need and demonstrated community service/volunteerism.

Recipients shall have a 3.00 GPA, have a declared major in Special Education, and show financial need.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in accounting.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

The accounting faculty selects the recipient on the basis of academic standing, potential for completing an undergraduate degree and financial need.

Recipients shall be education majors, preferably with an interest in classroom teaching, shall have demonstrated high academic performance, and show financial need.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major within the School of Communication and Mass Media with a preference for a specialization in Broadcasting. Recipient shall be chosen based on their leadership and high academic standards in the classroom, their demonstration of innovative approaches to broadcasting along with a passion for the industry and professionalism on the air.

Awarded to a junior or senior with a declared major in psychology with preference to those planning to pursue fields related to developmental psychology. Having met all other award criteria, first preference shall be given to applicants having graduated from high schools located in Carrol County in Missouri.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time, classified as a sophomore, junior or senior and shall have a broadcast background and/or have been previously or is currently employed by KXCV and/or KZLX. Academic achievement and work ethic shall be leading criteria. 

Recipients shall have declared a degree objective in elementary or secondary education and shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  

Recipient shall be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 2.75 GPA and a declared major within the School of Education. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be an agriculture major, involved in student activities, enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester and considered a full time student, have completed one trimester of coursework at the University, shall have a GPA of at least 2.70, and display a commitment to a career in agriculture. The recipient must also complete a 500 word or less essay describing “The Importance of Animal Agriculture to the U.S. Economy.”

Recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered as a full-time student by the University. The recipient shall be either an employee of the local Maryville Hy-Vee store or a dependent of an employee of the local Maryville Hy-Vee store. Preference may be given to the employee of the local Maryville Hy-Vee store. Academic achievement and financial need will be the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a continuing student with junior or senior classification and maintain full-time enrollment. First preference shall be given to a woman with a declared major in physical education, with second preference given to a woman pursuing a declared major in Recreation. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and show financial need.

Recipient shall be a full-time sophomore photojournalist. If there are no sophomore photojournalists applying, the best photographer serving the university's newspaper of yearbook staff may be awarded the scholarship.  The recipient must continue to be on the university's newspaper or yearbook staff. The recipient shall be a non-art major and submit their portfolio which may be comprised of photojournalistic photography or video. Video must be photojournalistic in nature and have been produced for use by the university's newspaper or yearbook. Video created for KNWT broadcasts are not eligible.  Please submit required work to the office of the School of Communication and Mass Media.

Recipient shall be of sophomore standing or higher and have declared a major in English. Recipient shall be in good academic standing and show high moral character.

Awarded to senior psychology major who exhibits scholarship, leadership and character, and demonstrates financial need.

The Leon F. Miller Graduate Grant Award will be awarded to one graduate student pursuing a graduate degree at Northwest Missouri State University. Eligibility for the award requires the student to be fully accepted into a graduate program and enrolled in a minimum of six hours of graduate study each trimester for which the grant is awarded. Recipients are selected by an application process through the Graduate Council, which may consider other criteria such as scholastic standing or financial need.

Recipient shall be classified as a continuing, full-time, African American student with preference given to females.  Preference shall also be given to those who exhibit academic excellence and financial need.

Recipient shall be classified as a junior or senior and have declared a major in history or social science education. Recipient shall maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA. Consideration will be given to financial need and other criteria of worthiness.

Recipient shall be a graduate of Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, Missouri, be a member of the graduating class in the year in which the scholarship is awarded, have attended Lafayette six semesters, rank in the upper one-half of the class on the seven semester rank, and show financial need.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA and shall be a graduate from one of the following Missouri school districts: South Harrison (Bethany), Gilman City or Ridgeway. Preference shall be given to incoming freshmen majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education. Continuing students and any academic major shall be considered if preferences are unable to be met.

Recipients shall be graduates of North Andrew High School, Rosendale, Missouri, shall have a minimum GPA of 2.00, and show financial need.

Recipients shall be participating in a study abroad experience. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a sophomore or junior with a declared major in Agriculture.

Recipient shall be a full-time senior who has been formally admitted into the Teacher Education Program.  Recipient shall have declared a major within the field of Elementary Education, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and show financial need.  Preference shall be given to graduates of Missouri high schools.

Recipients shall be classified as full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors pursuing a declared major within business and/or agriculture science.  Academic achievement and work eithic shall be the leading selection criteria.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Renewal requirements: The award is renewable for four years. To qualify for renewal, the student must remain Pell Grant eligible and complete at least 24 Northwest credit hours each academic year. Missouri residents must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative Northwest GPA and non-residents must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative Northwest GPA.

First preference given to entering freshmen from North Nodaway High School (NNHS) in Hopkins, Missouri, with second preference to continuing students or transfers from NNHS; additional preference to students preparing to teach. The recipients shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a graduating senior at Tarkio High School, Tarkio, MO. or Rock Port High School, Rock Port, MO. Recipient shall be an entering freshman with a minimum high school GPA of 3.00 and a minimum ACT composite score of 21. Recipient shall also demonstrate need for financial assistance and demonstrate active participation in scholastic and civic activities. First preference shall be given to descendants or relatives of Jacob and Catherine Stickerod. Lineage must be proven. This scholarship can be awarded to descendants without regard to student classification provided the student has a cumulative GPA of 2.0, is making timely progress toward a degree, and is enrolled as a full-time student.

Recipients shall be a full-time sophomore or older undergraduate continuing student with a declared Dietetics major and hours completed in the Dietetics major courses.

Recipients must be a history or social science major and have 3.00 cumulative GPA.

Recipient shall be the student with the highest weighted GPA graduating from any accredited high school in Worth County, MO. Preference shall be given to female applicants. Criteria will be based only on academic excellence.

Recipient shall be a continuing full time student with a declared degree of B.S. in Education, Business, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Unified Science, or Speech/Theatre.

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time and shall have declared a secondary education major within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics or the Department of Natural Sciences with the intention of becoming a high school teacher. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria. Preference shall be given to women and minorities.

Recipients shall be majoring in physical education, maintaining a GPA of at least 2.50, shall have completed 60 hours prior to applying for this scholarship, and at least 30 of those hours must have been completed at Northwest. Preference shall be given to a female student.

Preference shall be given to a female student enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA and shall complete a short essay indicating their desire to be a leader or explaining how they have demonstrated an ability to lead. Priority will be given to graduates from Albany R-III School District, Council Bluffs Community School District, Jefferson City School District, Kansas City Public Schools (or charter high schools within the Kansas City Public Schools boundary), Maysville R-I School District, Savannah R-III School District or Stanberry R-II School District.

Recipient shall be a sophomore in good academic standing and have completed the Student Support Services Bridge Program including all first year service requirements.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 2.80 who has demonstrated leadership in the Phi Phi chapter, leadership and active participation at the University as well as community service throughout Maryville and/or her hometown.

Recipients shall be full-time undergraduate students with a declared major in Psychology and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students active in the Ehlers Wesley Center programming. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Awarded to a Junior or Senior wildlife ecology and conservation major in good academic standing and achievement in field. Financial need shall be considered.

Recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0, major in physics, and have a junior or senior standing. All other criteria being equal, preference will be given to students graduating from a Missouri high school.

Recipient of scholarship shall be given to students from Gentry, Worth, or Harrison counties who are majoring in Elementary or High School Education at Northwest Missouri State University. Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.75.

Recipient of scholarship shall be given to students from Gentry, Worth or Harrison counties who are pursuing the study of stringed instruments at Northwest Missouri State University. Student must have a minimum of 2.75. If student does not have the required course of study it can then include any Music or Education student at Northwest.

Recipient shall be an education major who will be doing an International Study Abroad experience. The recipient must complete a minimum of six semester hours of pre-approved coursework. Students must have minimum GPA of 2.75.  Contact the School of Education for further details.

Recipient shall be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in Chemistry. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Available to first-time and continuing students who are graduates of high schools in Worth, Gentry, Harrison or Nodaway counties, who have declared a major in one of the disciplines housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and who are enrolled on a full-time basis at Northwest. 

Recipient shall have maintained a GPA of at least 2.50 and demonstrated the need for financial assistance by maintaining employment during the school year. Preference for this award will first be given to non-traditional students and/or students in the business program.

Rising sophomore, junior or senior mathematics major with 3.00 cumulative GPA. Must show promise and ability in area and financial need.

Recipient shall be classified as a junior or senior, enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters, and have declared a major in Agricultural Education. The recipient shall maintain a 2.50 GPA and demonstrate leadership and participation in Alpha Tau Alpha. The recipient must also demonstrate high potential to be a successful teacher.

Recipient shall be a full-time junior or senior with a declared major in Social Science Education.  The student shall have demonstrated a passion for teaching and helping people.  Preference shall be given to a student athlete.  December graduates may receive the award in its entirety in the fall trimester.

Recipient shall be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time with a minimum high school 3.0 GPA and shall have declared a major in Special Education and Elementary Education.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be entering freshmen after having graduated from South Holt High School in Oregon, Missouri with a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.5.  Preference for declared academic majors shall be given in the following order: (1) elementary education, (2) secondary education, and (3) any academic major.  All factors being equal, financial need shall be determining factor.

 

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student who has been formally admitted into the Professional Education Program with a declared degree and corresponding program within Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. First preference shall be given to graduates of Missouri high schools located in Gentry or Nodaway counties, with second preference to graduates of Atchison, Holt, Andrew, Worth, DeKalb, Harrison or Daviess counties and third preference to graduates of any high schools in the state of Missouri.  The applicant will submit a two paragraph essay explaining the applicant's experiences with young people and what the applicant hopes to accomplish as an elementary teacher.
 

Awarded to a junior or senior English major with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 and who has shown academic achievement.

Awarded to a language major with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Consideration is based on academic standing and financial need. Preference will be given to students with a Spanish major.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, shall maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and shall have declared a major in Business Technology, Business Education or Management Information Systems. Recipients shall also be graduates of a high school in the Missouri counties of Harrison or Buchanan. First preference shall be given to graduates of Mid-Buchanan High School and second preference shall be given to graduates of South Harrison High School. Preference shall also be given to juniors or seniors, however all classifications will be considered. Financial need shall be considered but will not be the determining factor in selection.

The recipients shall maintain full time enrollment.  The recipients shall be classified as a University sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.00. The scholarship shall be awarded following the preferences listed below: 1.Graduates of Northeast Nodaway who have declared a major in Elementary Education 2.Graduates of Northeast Nodaway who have declared a major in Secondary Education 3.Graduates of Stanberry High School who have declared a major in Elementary Education 4.Graduates of Stanberry High School who have declared major in Secondary Education. At the Committee’s discretion, December graduates may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session.

The recipient shall be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior and shall be a declared major in chemistry. The recipient shall maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Two awards will be given.  One student shall be a graduate of Maryville High School and one student shall be a graduate of an area high school in Nodaway County.  Recipients shall be incoming freshmen enrolled full-time and shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Each recipient shall demonstrate involvement in high school activities with leadership roles as well as involvement in community service activities.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria. 

Recipients of this scholarship shall be entering freshmen, graduates of a high school in Nodaway County (Missouri), have a minimum high school GPA of 3.00, be actively involved in school and community activities, and show financial need.

Financial need is leading criteria. Preference will be given to entering freshmen from Maryville High School in Maryville, Missouri and secondly to entering freshmen from any Missouri high school located in Nodaway County.

The recipient shall be classified as a full-time sophomore or junior with a 2.75 GPA or higher and be involved in a fraternity or sorority and at least one other on-campus organization. Campus involvement shall be leading criteria.  Preference will be given to students from the Kansas City area. The recipient is encouraged to attend the Cowboy Up Triathlon in August to be recognized as the scholarship recipient.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Agriculture and be enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters. First preference shall be given to graduates of Savannah High School in Savannah, Missouri, second preference shall be given to graduates of North Andrew High School in Rosendale, Missouri, and lastly to recipients originally from any areas in the states of Missouri or Iowa.

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage creative writing and open to all majors. The applicant must submit 5-15 pages of original creative work; more than one work may be submitted. Genres of work submitted may include but are not limited to fiction, poetry, drama or creative non-fiction.

Recipients must be Elementary Education majors of good moral character who show promise of excellence in elementary education.

Recipients shall have a declared a major in the area of business, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Freshmen are eligible if he/she has graduated in the upper one-third of his/her high school graduating class.

Recipient shall classified as a university junior or senior enrolled full time with a declared major within the School of Agricultural Sciences and shall maintain an minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to a female student.

Financial need and academic achievement shall be leading criteria in that order.

Recipient of this award shall be an Education major, from any class level, and be a full-time student in the fall and spring trimester.

Available to graduates of South Harrison High School in Bethany, Missouri, accepted as an entering freshman. Must have minimum GPA of 2.50, financial need and have a declared major and degree within the Melvin D. & Valorie G. Booth School of Business.

Applicants must have completed five trimesters of work with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00, be enrolled in the sixth trimester as a full-time student, and return to Northwest as a full-time senior vocal music major.

Recipients shall be incoming freshmen that are graduates of Atlantic High School in Atlantic, Iowa. Recipients must be considered full-time. When funds available to be distributed exceed capacity to award to eligible incoming freshmen from Atlantic High School, the pool of candidates may be expanded to any entering freshmen from Iowa. Need and academic merit will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full-time student by the University and shall have graduated from Maryville High School in Maryville, Missouri.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.  The recipient shall be considered a candidate for the "Powering Dreams" scholarships.  At the Committee's discretion, December graduates may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session.

Awarded to a junior or senior art major with studio specialization in ceramics and/or painting. Recipient must maintain a 3.00 GPA. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as an Education major from one of four counties in Northwest Missouri: Nodaway, Atchison, Holt, and Worth. Academic achievement and need are leading criteria.

Awarded to a junior English major for use in the senior year. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 with 3.50 in sophomore and junior English courses. Preference given to a student with financial need.

Recipients shall be an active cheerleader during the year for which the award is made, a junior or senior, maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.00, and show financial need. Recipients should exhibit the highest standards of enthusiasm and spirit and exemplary of outstanding cheerleading.

Awarded to an English education major with at least sophomore standing and a minimum GPA of 3.00.

The recipient shall be classified as a continuing student (sophomore, junior or senior by the University) and shall be considered a full time student by the University. First preference shall be given to non-traditional students who have declared a major in Elementary Education. Second preference shall be given to students from St. Joseph, Missouri who has declared a major in Elementary Education. If there is not a qualified applicant meeting either of the preferences, selection may be opened to any continuing student majoring in Elementary Education.

Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students with a major in agriculture who have completed at least one year of college. Recipient or their parents must be a current member of Missouri Farm Bureau.  Preference will be given to applicants who are active participants in Collegiate Farm Bureau chapter.

Recipients shall be considered a full-time student with a declared major or minor in Geology.  First preference shall be given to a junior or senior.  If no qualified applicants meet the criteria, then the scholarship may be awarded to an applicant who has taken a Geology course at the University.

Recipients shall have declared a major of Business Technology and shall maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. All other factors being equal, financial need may be the determining factor in the selection process. Preference will be given to a junior or senior, however all student classifications will qualify. 

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education. Preference may be given to applicants pursuing an Early Childhood Education major.  Recipient shall maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA overall, in Professional Education courses and in Content Area.  Recipient shall have financial need which shall be given equal consideration to all other eligibility criteria.  Preference may also be given to applicants who qualify for and secure a Work Study position on campus. Each applicant shall complete the essay explaining the applicant's experiences with young people and what the applicant hopes to accomplish as an elementary education major.

Recipient shall be working toward a degree in Elementary or Secondary Education and be completing their student teaching requirement. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a senior and shall have declared a major in Elementary Education. Preference will be given to a student who desires to teach first or second grade. The scholarship is to be awarded for use during the recipient's student teaching semester.

Recipients shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have declared an academic major of chemistry or physics. Recipients shall be classified as juniors or seniors. Recipients receiving the scholarship during their junior year may be eligible for renewal for their senior year at the discretion of the selection committee.

Recipients shall be graduates of Maryville High School having graduated in the upper third of their graduating class, shall be entering freshmen, and have declared a major in teacher education.

Recipient shall have declared an interest in coaching and demonstrate that interest by volunteering as an undergraduate student coach for football at Northwest Missouri State University. Financial need and student interest in pursuing a career in coaching will be leading criteria.

Two leadership awards of $500 are available to full-time returning students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The First Year Leadership Award shall be given to students who have lived in Northwest residence halls for at least 2 trimesters, including the current trimester and must live in the residence halls the trimester after receiving the award. The Leadership Award recipient is given to students who has lived in the residence halls at Northwest for at least 3 trimesters, including the current trimester and must live in the residence halls the trimester after receiving the award. All recipients shall have demonstrated participation in the betterment of the residence halls (i.e. hall councils, floor governments, Residence Hall Association, National Residence Hall Honorary, residential assistant work, Academic Resource Consultant in Hall, etc.)

Awarded to a full time student with Native American ethnicity (able to provide evidence of Tribal membership or a CDIB card) and demonstrated need. Entering freshmen must meet our regular admissions criteria. Continuing students must maintain a 2.50 GPA.

Recipient shall be a child of a current/previous Deluxe employee, enrolled full-time as a first-time freshman and shall have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA.

 

Available to graduates of Maryville High School in Maryville, MO., accepted as entering freshman, with minimum 2.50 GPA, possess energetic and dedicated attitudes to the activities of Maryville High School and, in general, the importance of education, and demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to full-time students in good academic standing who are active members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.  The recipient shall be in good academic standing but shall not have a GPA above 3.4. The recipient must submit a one page essay to demonstrate how they overcame some type of barrier to succeed in their education. 

The recipients for this scholarship are chosen by the School of Professional Education and based on involvement with individuals with disabilities.  Contact the School of Professional Education to inquire about the application process.

Recipient shall be a graduate of Nodaway-Holt High School with a minimum 2.5 high school GPA and enrolled full-time as a Northwest Missouri State University freshman. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a full-time student maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA.  Recipient shall be involved in activities outside of the classroom, university-sponsored student organizations and community groups demonstrating a willingness to contribute to the improvement of the community.  Recipient shall also demonstrate the recipient's family's commitment to Northwest, a commitment to academic success at Northwest and a commitment of service to Northwest.

Recipient shall be classified as an entering freshman, enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters and shall have qualified for the Northwest Promise program.  Recipient shall also have declared a major in agriculture, shall be a graduate of Maryville High School where they attended their entire junior and senior years and shall have a GPA rank within the 50th to 75th percentile.* Lastly, recipient shall have been employed and/or worked on an agricultural farm or agricultural related enterprise for any length of time.

*If and only if an appropriate recipient is not available within the 50th-75th percentile of their graduating class, it may be expanded to the 85th percentile.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Renewal requirements: The award is renewable for four years. To qualify for renewal, the student must remain Pell Grant eligible and complete at least 24 Northwest credit hours each academic year. Missouri residents must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative Northwest GPA and non-residents must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative Northwest GPA.

Eligible recipients shall be enrolled as full-time students with a 2.0 GPA and shall be a dependent or spouse of a Northwest staff member.  That staff member must be employed on the final day of the semester general registration in which the scholarship is awarded. Additionally, full time staff employees will qualify if they are degree seeking (undergraduate or graduate) and enrolled in classes each semester. The scholarship will not be awarded if the employee has been terminated prior to the final day of the semester of general registration.  Staff members are defined as non-faculty employees of Northwest that are eligible to attend staff council.  Financial need shall be the leading factor in selecting recipients.

Recipient shall have declared an undergraduate major in the area of Marketing or Management or a Master’s of Business Administration. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need, be considered a full-time student, and shall have demonstrated timely progress toward the completion of a degree.

Recipients shall have declared a major in English  and maintain a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and/or a post-secondary cumulative GPA of 3.0. The recipient shall be selected based on GPA and financial need.

Recipient shall be a sophomore or junior enrolled in a 4-year degree program, must have been active member of Sigma Society for at least one year, and have demonstrated outstanding leadership and involvement in service activities to the community and on campus. Financial need will be considered.

Recipients shall be full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors with a minimum 2.75 GPA and a major declared within the Booth School of Business (preference for Business Management or Business Administration) or an Agricultural Business major within the School of Agricultural Sciences. Recipients shall also be a graduate of a high school in one of the following Missouri counties: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, Dekalb, Gentry, Harrison, Holt, Nodaway or Worth. If the award cannot be made as detailed above, the pool of candidates may be expanded to high school graduates from Iowa, Kansas or Nebraska who qualify for the Bearcat Advantage program. Financial need shall be leading criteria followed by academic merit.

Recipients shall be continuing students enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in Chemistry or related field while maintaining a 3.0 GPA.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall be a graduate of Maryville High School or Nodaway-Holt High School, pursuing a degree within the School of Agricultural Sciences.  Preference shall be given to a student majoring in agricultural sciences with additional priorities given to academic excellence and financial need, in this order.

Recipients shall be entering freshmen and maintain enrollment to be considered full-time by the University. Financial need is leading criteria. Preference shall be to assist students who graduated from a high school located in Nodaway, Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Worth, or Andrew counties in Missouri or Page and Taylor counties in Iowa.

Awarded to a current Northwest student that has declared a major within the School of Business.

Awarded to a junior or senior with a declared major in the area of psychology.

Recipient shall be a continuing full time student that meets the requirements to study abroad with a declared degree of B.S. in Education with a major in Business, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Unified Science, or Speech/Theatre.

Recipients shall be classified as graduating high school seniors and shall have been accepted as entering freshmen at Northwest Missouri State University.  A high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is required. 
 
Recipients must be nominated by a TKE alumnus which will be documented on his/her application*. Maintaining full-time enrollment is required during the duration of the scholarship.  Recipients will show a history of strong leadership skills, academic performance and participation in school and community activities. 
 
During the freshman year at Northwest, the recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA in the fall trimester.  A transcript submission is required to the selection committee of TKE Alumni 30 days after the fall semester ends to renew the scholarship for the spring trimester.

Awarded annually to a sophomore that has declared a major in the area of Geography and has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement.

Recipient shall be a graduate of the Upward Bound or Upward Bound Math & Science programs at Northwest, be an active and current member of student support services and be enrolled as a full-time student at Northwest. Academic achievement and financial need will be the leading criteria.

Awarded to Dietetics majors, continuing students (sophomore or older students) with hours completed in the dietetics major courses, those who display serious intent of finishing their dietetics program. If multiple, qualifying candidates apply, preference can be given to those who resided generally in the geographic area consisting of the 19 counties in Northwest Missouri, with additional preference for those who grew up on a farm or in a small town (under 1500 population).

Recipient shall be a junior or senior math or statistics major. Based on performance in mathematics and statistics courses.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and shall have declared a major in education within the School of Education and shall maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered full-time students by the University. Recipients shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

This scholarship is awarded to a public relations major on an annual basis. This scholarship requires that the applicant has completed a minimum or 45 academic hours with a GPA of 3.00 or better. Consideration is given for involvement in PRSSA and/or Lambda Pi Eta. Must show financial need.

The student must be a first-time freshmen who has completed the FAFSA and all verification documents by Feb. 1 priority filing date. The student must also be Pell Grant eligible. For Missouri Residents, students must have an ACT: 18-36 and 2.50 GPA. For Non-Missouri residents, student must be eligible for Bearcat Advantage.

Awarded to a sophomore of good moral character. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 to qualify and must maintain this GPA during the sophomore year. The recipients must be enrolled as full-time students at Northwest during the award year and major in vocal or piano areas, or be a choral ensemble participant.

Recipient shall be enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters and have declared a major in agriculture. Preference will be given to students from Winston, Missouri or Daviess County in Missouri or any town in northwest Missouri. Financial need will be leading criteria.

Awarded to Northwest student majoring in agriculture. Prospective sophomore, junior, or senior. Based on leadership, academics and need.

Recipient must be an upperclassman majoring in business with a minimum GPA of 3.00 and have completed a minimum of 27 credit hours at Northwest.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment of at least 12 hours for each fall and spring trimesters. Preference will be given to students studying education. Financial need is leading criteria.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered as full-time students and have declared a major to receive a BFA with an emphasis in Sculpture and/or Ceramics.  Recipients shall maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a junior or senior chemistry major with a minimum GPA of a 3.0 both cumulative and overall.  Financial need shall be the leading criteria.

Recipients must be a junior or senior with a major in Middle School Education, a 2.75 GPA, be involved in professional activities, and demonstrate financial need.

Recipients shall be members of the LGBTQ community.  One award shall be given to a transgender or gender non-conforming student and one award shall be given to a student who identifies as LGBTQ.  Recipients shall be enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.8 GPA.  A personal statement shall be required including what it means to be a part of the LGBTQ community and/or what it was like to come out to someone important to you. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

*Additional scholarships may be awarded to members of the LGBTQ community based on available funding.

Awarded to a junior of senior psychology major who demonstrates active involvement in research or other aspects of professional development with preference for students who will use the funds to support research or professional development activities.

Recipient shall be a full-time student. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Awarded to a Northwest student who is currently a member the Jazz Ensemble and will be returning to perform with the group during the following academic year. Recipient must have a 2.00 GPA and enroll in private study.

Awarded to business majors who are graduates of a high school in St. Joseph, Missouri or a 30 mile radius of St. Joseph, with a preference for the public schools. Recipients shall have a minimum classification of sophomore and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75. Financial need may be considered.

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered as full-time students by the University.  Recipients shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria with first preference given to a continuing student who has been formally admitted to the teacher education program.

Candidates shall declare a major in chemistry, mathematics or physics. Eligible students shall take all of their course work at Northwest and may receive scholarship for any year provided the student maintains a cumulative 2.50 GPA in chemistry, mathematics and physics and a cumulative overall GPA of 2.00. Students taking the Gray-Lilley Scholarship Exam will be given first consideration. Students wishing to apply for this scholarship should contact the department for exam date.

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, shall be a continuing student, and shall be education majors with an interest in classroom teaching. First preference shall be given to graduates of Lawson High School in Lawson, Missouri.

Recipients shall maintain a GPA of 3.50, have declared a major in the area of Elementary Education, and show financial need. Eligible recipients shall have graduated from a high school in the 19-county district of Northwest Missouri State University and shall be a university senior in the year the scholarship is awarded.

Recipients shall have qualified for the Northwest Promise Program and shall have declared a major in History or History Education.

Recipient shall be classified as a University freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior and shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full-time student by the University. Preference shall be given to student ambassadors.

This award applauds the exemplary KXCV/KRNW broadcaster who exhibits leadership, high academic standards in the classroom and professional applications on the air and displays innovative approaches to broadcasting and real passion for the industry. The recipient is chosen from among KXCV/KRNW announcers and news reporters by the KXCV/KRNW professional staff.

Recipient must be an undergraduate student majoring in Elementary Education.

Awarded to a full time sophomore, junior or senior. One award for students with minimum 3.00 GPA majoring in area of: accounting, finance, marketing, management, international business, mass communications and computer management systems.

Awarded to a full time sophomore, junior or senior. One award for students actively involved with the Wesley Foundation pursuing any academic major with minimum 2.50 GPA. 

Recipients shall maintain enrollment to be considered as full-time students, shall have qualified for the Northwest Promise program and shall have declared a major in Theatre.

Recipients shall either be graduates of North Nodaway High School in Hopkins, MO or qualifying employees or dependents of employees of the J.L. Houston Co in Hopkins, MO.  Dependents of former or deceased employees of the J.L. Houston Co may also be considered. Recipients shall be entering freshmen enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and show demonstrated leadership in school and community activities. Financial need may be considered. Additionally, qualifying employees, qualifying dependents of employees or qualifying dependents of former or deceased employees of the J.L. Houston Co. may receive the award upon first transferring to Northwest Missouri State University with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. It is the donor's intent that this award shall continue to assist multiple recipients throughout their subsequent undergraduate years.

Renewals (up to 3 years) shall be based on, but not limited to, the recipient maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA and remain enrolled full-time.

Recipient shall be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.25 GPA and a declared major in marketing. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient must have declared a major in agriculture.

The recipient shall be enrolled full time and have declared a major in Natural Sciences and/or Mathematics maintaining a 2.75 GPA. First preference shall be given to a Nanoscale-Physics and/or Mathematics major. Preference shall also be given to a Missouri high school graduate. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria.

Awarded to an upper level continuing music major for use during the senior year of study as a music major at Northwest. Applicants must be a second trimester junior, have at least a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00, be a music major, and at least a two-year member of NAFME.

Awarded to a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student with a major in physical education or recreation. Undergraduates must have a completed a minimum of 27 credit hours, show financial need. Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time as a music education major with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Recipient shall also be involved in an instrumental music performance group with a preference given for woodwinds.

Recipient shall be a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full-time with a declared major in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

This scholarship is made available by funds from the Northwest Foundation and is awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donor(s).

Recipients shall be incoming freshmen enrolled full-time and shall have participated in Agricultural Education Career Development events at Northwest.
 

Recipient shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full-time student by the University and shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by Northwest Missouri State University, with academic achievement and financial need the leading criteria.

Recipient shall be a university junior or senior and have declared a major in International Business. Recipient must maintain a 3.00 GPA. The recipient will be selected on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

Recipient shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00, must be enrolled in a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester, display strong leadership qualities, and show financial need. Eligible recipients shall also be active members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Northwest.

Recipient shall be a full-time freshman, sophomore, junior or senior physics major or nanoscale science major with an emphasis in physics.  Entering freshmen may receive this award if they are considering one of these majors.  Seniors planning on graduating in December may receive the award in its entirety during the fall session.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient of this award shall be pursuing studies in Elementary Education or Special Education from any class level and shall maintain enrollment in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters. Applicant must submit a one-page essay regarding a challenge or barrier they have overcome to pursue and succeed in their education.

Recipients of the MO Lambda Sig Ep Brother of the Year Award shall be a member in good standing of the Missouri Lambda Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA, shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full-time student by the University, and shall demonstrate strong leadership skills and involvement in activities for the betterment of the Chapter and the University.

The scholarship may assist members at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

In addition, an essay regarding "The Lifetime Responsibility of Brotherhood" must be submitted.

Recipient of the MO Lambda New Member of the Year Award shall have joined the Missouri Lambda Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity within the prior calendar year and be a member in good standing.

Recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA, shall maintain enrollment to be considered a full-time student by the University, and shall demonstrate strong leadership skills and involvement in activities for the betterment of the Chapter and the University.

The scholarship may assist members at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

Recipients shall have a declared major within the School of Agricultural Sciences.  Preference shall be given to animal science majors.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time continuing International Student by the Intercultural and International Center. Recipient shall maintain a 2.75 GPA. Merit and involvement within the Northwest community and contribution to the campus community will serve as leading criteria.

Recipients shall be full-time undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall be full-time students from the Southern Iowa area (counties of Ringgold, Taylor, Page, Clark, Adams, Union, and Decatur). Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time and be from one of the following counties in Missouri: Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, DeKalb or in Kansas: Atchison, Doniphan.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipient shall be enrolled full-time in the summer trimester.  Financial need and academic achievement shall be leading criteria.  Strong preference shall be given to students from large urban areas.

Recipient shall be a Northwest junior or senior Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood major, shall have graduated from Maryville High School, shall have a minimum cumulative 2.50 GPA, and show financial need.

Recipients shall be a junior or senior elementary education major enrolled full-time with a minimum GPA of 2.75.  Preference shall be given to students from Nodaway or Holt counties in Missouri.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

The Sterling Surrey Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior majoring in business with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Recipient shall be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior majoring in a computer science or technology-related field and shall maintain an overall GPA between 3.0 and 3.8.  Preference shall be given to students who are involved in a University-sanctioned organization including Greek organizations recognized by the University.

Recipient shall be a continuing student and considered full time. Recipient shall have demonstrated student leadership in a student organization that is in good standing with the Student Senate and shall have a minimum 3.00 GPA. Academic achievement and financial need will be leading criteria. Since the Student Senate president is part of the selection committee, he/she shall be ineligible to receive the scholarship.

The T.H. Eckert Journalism Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior mass media major with a minimum 3.00 GPA, based on leadership and contribution to the Northwest Missourian.

Two scholarships are awarded annually to junior, senior or graduate students with a major in Education. Applicants shall have a minimum 2.75 GPA and favorable recommendation of at least one faculty member. 

Recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student in the School of Education and shall have graduated from one of the following high schools in the Kansas City area: North Kansas City High School, Winnetonka High School, Oak Park High School or Staley High School. Financial need shall be leading criteria.

Rising junior or senior mathematics majors may apply. Based on ability and promise in mathematics.

Recipients shall be classified as freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients shall be initiated members of TKE Delta Nu, be in good standing with the chapter and have a signed contract to live in the TKE house.

Recipient shall be a permanent resident of Nodaway County, Missouri, be enrolled as a junior or senior at Northwest, have a GPA of at least 3.35, and show financial need.

Recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and studying pre-engineering. First preference is given to Missouri residents whose home is served by Missouri Electric Cooperative. Proof of service must be submitted with application which includes the completion of an essay.

Recipient shall be classified as a full-time, continuing student with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a declared major within the School of Agricultural Sciences.  Recipient shall also be a child or grandchild of a current or former United Electric Cooperative member/owner.

Teacher Education major, with a minimum 3.00 GPA, and who demonstrates financial need

Recipients shall be enrolled full-time at Northwest. Leading criteria focused primarily on financial need as well as academic achievement.

Recipient shall have declared a major in music.

Awarded to a full time sophomore, junior or senior. Recipient shall maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00, have declared a major in the area of business and show financial need. Preference may be given to graduates of Worth County High School.

Preference shall be given to female students enrolled full-time and classified as juniors or seniors maintaining a 3.0 GPA and shall have a permanent address in northwest Missouri.

Recipient shall be a full-time continuing student with a declared major in English. The award will be received during the junior or senior year. Emphasis shall be placed on the student's interest in American literature and teacher education.

Recipient shall be a sophomore, junior or senior with a permanent address within a radius of 125 miles from Maryville and have a minimum a 3.0 GPA. The student must show financial need and that he/she contributes financially to the funds required to attend college either by employment during summer vacation or part time employment. The award shall not be made to any student whose tuition is reduced because his or her spouse, parent, or guardian is a member of the faculty or administrative staff at the University, nor shall it be given to any student whose permanent residence is Maryville, Missouri unless it has been determined that such student would be unable to attend college unless this scholarship was awarded to the person.

Recipient shall be a native and resident of either Missouri or Kansas with at least one year of membership in the National Guard, Maryville unit. Recipient shall be a junior or senior at Northwest with at least sixty semester hours completed at Northwest. Recipient shall also be a loyal citizen, a good student, and a dependable military person.

Recipient shall be chosen based on admissions and financial assistance policies and standards offered by NWMSU for awarding cultural enrichment scholarships to United States citizens, with financial need the leading criteria. Preference will be to first assist ethnically diverse students who are pursuing the degree of B.S. in Education: Secondary Education, with a major within any academic discipline in the field of Secondary Education.

Recipient shall have declared a major in Agricultural Sciences.

The Ward Rounds Instrumental Music Scholarship will be awarded to a Northwest instrumental music education major, from the wind or percussion area, for use during the junior and/or senior year of study. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and maintain this throughout the award year, be enrolled as a full-time student, and continue with membership in the Bearcat Marching Band, Wind Symphony, and/or Jazz Ensemble. Potential applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities in the Northwest band program, participation in a music service organization, and demonstrate financial need. The recipient may reapply for the senior year if  selected for their junior year.

Recipients shall be juniors or seniors enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a declared major in business economics. Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.

Recipients shall show exemplary leadership abilities in academic and civic activities, maintain 3.00 cumulative GPA, have at least sophomore standing and demonstrate financial need. Dependents of employees of Ideker Construction may be given preference.

Recipient shall be enrolled full time as an education major. Recipient shall also be a U.S. Citizen from Platte City, MO and the Platte County R-3 School District. Academic achievement and financial need are leading criteria.

Recipients shall be considered full-time students by the University. First preference will be given to entering freshmen from East Mills High School in Malvern, IA and second preference to continuing students and/or transfer students having graduated from East Mills High School. Financial need will be the leading criteria. If no East Mills High School graduate should attend the University in any given year, only then may the award be used to assist deserving graduates of any Iowa high school.

Recipients shall have elected a major in biology, with preference given to those with a zoology emphasis. Recipient must be classified as a Northwest sophomore, junior, or senior and shall demonstrate academic achievement and involvement in campus activities. 

Recipient shall be pursuing a career in the medical field at Northwest, shall have graduated from a Nodaway County high school, and shall maintain a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA.

Scholarship is awarded annually to current junior to be awarded during the senior year. This person shall be of good moral character with excellent academic standing and show promise for excellence in the area of education with preference for Elementary Education or guidance and counseling. 

The scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student with preference given to a female majoring in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science & Informatics - Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Digital Media - Computer Science.  The recipient shall have made significant contributions to the School of Computer Science and Information Systems and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Academic achievement and financial need shall be leading criteria.
